Arturo Torres was born in the city of San Luis Potosi, located in the Central part of Mexico.
After receiving his baccalaureate in Agricultural engineering from the Universidad of San Luis Potosi, he worked for the Mexican government and other private institutions. In 1988 he imigrated to the United States and made Seattle, Washington his new home.
His increasing interest in photography and his fascination with the architecture of his own country inspired him to travel to Spain and Italy, as well as France and Portugal to photograph the architecture in these countries.
At first, the photography was an avocation and purely a personal pleasure, but gradually friends and collegues encouraged him to turn his increasingly serious advocation into a profession.
The focus of his photographic interest in on doorways and windows which speak of lives beyond them, and reflecting his cultural background, the colors he seeks are vibrant and contrasting.
